CORE Trauma Healing Center, Inc.

at Lake Pocotopaug in East Hampton, Connecticut

CORE is a federally recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization!

We are excited to begin launching services to address Professional Post-Traumatic Stress Injury - Pro-PTSI.

There are some professions that are inherently saturated with traumatic experiences, including first responders, emergency departments and the criminal justice system. Cumulative exposures to traumatic experiences can lead to post-traumatic stress. This response is an injury and it effects the entire physical body. The brain is an ACTUAL PHYSICAL ORGAN. There should not be separation of body and mind. Trauma impacts the brain, nervous system and all organs connected with the vagus nerve. It's not just in your head. It's not mental illness. You are not broken. It's an injury and it can heal.

CORE is in the process of seeking funding for the following services:

We specialize in addressing workplace trauma and PTSI for Veterans, Police Officers, Corrections Officers, Fire Fighters, EMTs, SWAT, national civilian contractors, First Responders, Dispatch, Uniformed Officers, State Marshalls, coroners, correctional officers, probation officers, criminal justice professionals, physicians, nurses, educators, child protection workers, mental health professionals and others with occupational trauma. We will coordinate with your medical providers, human resources, workers compensation and insurance company to coordinate your care as required. We offer the following services to assist you:

1. CORE is launching a statewide peer-led crisis response network for professionals dealing with Pro-PTSI. CORE will provide support, referrals, resources, education and advocacy as needed. If you are a trauma trained professional or a professional in any of the areas we serve and want to volunteer and get involved, please contact us!

2. CORE provides a free, private statewide support group, Got Your Back, on facebook for professionals dealing with Pro-PTSI.

3. CORE is launching a social marketing campaign to increase awareness, promote healthy practices and policies and connect professionals to statewide resources.

4. CORE offers trainings and consultation for departments and organizations related to Pro-PTSI. Please contact us if you would like to host a training.

Please see our Donations Page to support CORE's services! Thank you!
